Publishers Weekly reported on Tuesday that Calamus Books is one of more than 40 booksellers being sued for copyright transgression by Larry Townsend, who claims that a distributor, Oklahoma-based Nazca Plains Corp., owes him royalties, and that Townsends copyright was infringed upon by the booksellers named in the suit. Paul Glickman, an attorney representing John Mitzel, who runs Calamus, told Publishers Weekly that the fill seems to be a wrangle over over change between the defendant and his distributor. According to Los Angeles based-Valerie F. Horn, Townsends attorney, Nazca copied Townsends books without authorization and then distributed the books to the booksellers.
